ROOFING MATERIAL OPTIONS

A majority of roofs in our area are made of asphalt shingles, but we also have our share of metal roofs and cedar shakes. We’re happy to help you decide what will work and look best on your home and budget.

ASPHALT SHINGLES

Asphalt shingles are durable, easy for repairs, and affordable. They come in a wide array of colors and designs so you can give your house a customized look. They even have textures that mimic cedar shakes or slate. Asphalt shingles incorporate algae control so your roof looks nicer longer and are wind-rated up to 130 mph — much higher than the wind speeds we see in Upstate New York — for your peace of mind. Customize your roof for your style and safety. And remember, the shingles we use are made in the USA and support American jobs.

Asphalt shingles come in a variety of styles:

  • Architectural, or laminated, shingles are thick and strong. They have increased resistance to the elements, are sturdier overall, and we have a variety of styles available.
  • Premium shingles are the highest quality shingles. They offer unique appearance and advanced protection from the elements.

METAL ROOFING

Metal roofing can last 50 years with little maintenance. Metal protects your home from hail and other debris and gives your home a standout look. It is energy-efficient, and in some cases it can be painted instead of replaced. Metal shingles contain 30-60% recycled material and are 100% recyclable. Types of metal shingles include:

  • Standing seam
  • Corrugated R-panels
  • Metal tile
  • DECRA® Stone-coated steel

CEDAR SHAKES

Cedar shake roofs use wooden shingles made from split logs. The thickness of each shingle varies, giving the roof its unique appearance. This type of roof has been around since the early colonists. An average cedar shake roof will last about 30 years with appropriate maintenance.

SOLAR SHINGLES

Solar is a clean, powerful, renewable energy, and by using solar panels on your home, you can produce about 80% lower carbon emissions than fossil fuel. If you’re trying to go green, or just buying an electric vehicle, this is a great place to start your energy independence.
